COMMENT – The UK’s handling of the case involving ‘rogue surgeon’ Dr Ian Paterson is in stark contrast with the response to the PIP breast implants scandal. Yet both feature the common denominators of a growing catalogue of public harm situations involving basic procedural and/or regulatory shortcomings.
